Computer Activity Monitor gives you high-level visibility into work patterns — whether a computer is active and which applications are open — not what people are writing, reading, or doing in private. The data is about patterns and productivity, not personal surveillance.

No. Not ever. We excluded screenshots deliberately: screenshot-based tools create anxiety, generate huge amounts of sensitive data to store and protect, and feel deeply invasive. You can get the business visibility you need without capturing images of anyone's screen. Our data is behavioral — time active, time idle, applications in use, input activity levels — not visual.

No. We record that keyboard activity occurred and measure its frequency, never the content. Passwords, personal messages, client correspondence, and everything else employees type stays completely private. Reports show keystroke counts, not keystrokes.

HIPAA compliance is something your organization achieves with its policies and vendors; it isn't a product certification, so we don't put that label on ours. What we can say precisely: CAM never captures screens, keystroke content, or document and message content. For desktop applications it records only the application name. For browser tabs it records a page title that is scrubbed on the workstation first — emails, phone numbers, SSNs, record numbers, dates, and dollar amounts are stripped and the title is truncated before anything is sent.

That design keeps CAM out of the PHI path in normal operation, which is why many billing offices conclude no BAA is required. Review it with your compliance officer as you would any other tool — we're happy to answer their questions directly.

Per computer. The hosted plan is $3.88 per monitored computer per month, and a computer counts once even if several people log in to it. You can pay monthly by PayPal autopay or annually by invoice with net terms; there is never a credit card on file and nothing is charged automatically when the trial ends.

Setup takes under an hour. You create your account, download the lightweight Windows agent — built with your account key already inside — and run it on each computer. There's no server configuration, no database to manage, and no technical background required. For larger rollouts you can push it with a Group Policy startup script or your RMM tool, and we'll walk you through it. The self-hosted version does require basic server and database setup, which is why we recommend the hosted plan for most small businesses.

Active time vs. idle time per reporting interval, mouse movement and click frequency, keyboard activity frequency (not content), the name of the active application, and whether unusual input patterns were detected (mouse jigglers, auto-clickers, macro typing). It does not collect screenshots, keystrokes, email or message content, documents, browser history, or any file contents. Reports show this by computer, by user, and by time period.

Nothing is charged automatically — there's no card on file. Before the trial ends you'll see a reminder in your dashboard and by email with a one-click "request an invoice" step. If you continue, we invoice you; if you don't, your agents keep collecting for a grace period so no history is lost while you decide, and you can export everything to CSV. Cancelling is a single email to us.

Yes. The agent runs on any Windows PC with an internet connection and reports to your dashboard every 10 minutes, so remote, hybrid, and in-office teams all show up in the same reports. If a machine loses connectivity, it buffers locally and catches up when it's back online.
